Re: Its not salt, but has water

Since the tank is not that wide, Cichlids, except the dwarf species, would have a tough time in there.

I think I'd opt for various smaller tetras. They are easy to keep, lots of good color varieties, inexpensive, and always in motion. A few various species of catfish, and an odd ball or two, and you'd really have something.

cichlids and plants do not mix. They like to dig a lot. Put a couple angelfish in there. (course angels are cichlids!)

I think it is much easier to upkeep then a salt water tank but salt water tank has more colours. Both types are nice but fresh water tank is cheaper to buy stuff for.

Looks very nice Steve. I used to keep/breed discus, and always had a pair in a planted tank in the main living room.
Steve put alot of work into this tank but it is too small to keep big fish like discus so i am just keeping Tetras.
Thank you for your comment.

Have to check on Cichlids for my future tank.

is that a dead bleached coral skeleton in the other room?
did you kill it?
how come RS won't let me give you or teresa any more karma for today?
how come round pizzas come in square boxes?
..huh?...huh?...tell us?
just a few questions...inquiring minds want to know
Boozeman,
Okay I will answer the questions that are easy and leave the difficult ones for Sasquatch.
Yes he built it himself, he even glued the glass pieces together.
Viewable from both sides, the other side will see whatever in the tank reversed.
Filtration is in the sump. The tank holds 20 gallons but the sump holds 30 gallons.
The bed is so deep is because Steve add in small stones, then Substrate ( Seachem Flourish) then gravel.Three layers of soil before the plants are being planted.
Pls ask Sasquatch about hooking the tank up, it took him two days.
WE use two Coralife Compact Flourescent each 55 watts each and 22 ins long. The tank is getting 5.5 watts per gallon which will allow us to plant anything we want.
I have 6 Cardinal Tetras in the tank right now. Today we went to buy 22 shrimps. They are Algae eating shrimps. 20 Cherry shrimps and 2 Amano Shrimps ( I want to get more Amano shrimps later, the shop ran out of this shrimp)
the top border can flip open and it is much bigger then the other three borders on 1 side.So that is where we can access the tank. The other side is completely closed.
Oh that bleached coral I think Steve killed the coral
Steve wants to post this thread is because he wants to get the credit as he did most of the work, I just supervise
Round pizzas come in Sq boxes so that when you want to light the pizza fr the box, it won't be damaged as you can light it fr space provided at the 4 sq. corners
Hope I have answered all your questions.
I am going for a cup of coffee after answering all your questions Boozeman.

I love the in-wall look. Very neat and tidy plus you can see both sides.
Well done!!
Thanks lynn. Right now there are 6 Cardinal Tetras in the tank and they are grouping fish so it is fun to watch them swim fr one side of the tank to the other side.

I am going to add Tetras and shrimps only. I think Angelfish is too big for my tank. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yes the plants are live plants and CO2 is added. Have to trim the plants now and then because they grow very fast with CO2
