OT: LFS Trip

Small town just over the mountain has a shop, just arrived!!! LR , FRAGS!! and stuff, so we went, as usual BUMMER!! I think seeing the quality of stock you guys get has jaded me, some how cayano coverd acro's , open brains with 1/2 the flesh gone,torch's with no heads,brown jellied goni's, galaxy's with silver dollar rot spots just dont cut it anymore, the sump under the main display is 50% lr and 50% dead acros, ah well what little Ive got is in good shape so happy I am to have once again practiced Patience .Might have to build a smugglers tank into the truck and head south lol Steve.

Its frustrating, I think we get all the seconds and thirds sent here, 4 shops and the stock is always the same condition (crappooo) Ive seen what you guys get and its not what we get, small wonder people have trouble with reefs here I dont think its the care, its just inferior stock with only a 50 % chance grrrrrrrrrrr

I dont really see alot of NICE corals here In Wisconsin either.. What was some of the prices on the corals ? Were they over priced too?

umm frags were 29, green ricordia was 50, think they would have taken 30 for the brains (or what as left)

I wouldnt call the local shops corals selection great. Lucky I live lil over an hour from Chicago & Indianapolis & both have good shops. Also have Inland Aquatics about an hour from me. I think I have had my best luck come from other reefers getting out & selling everything.

you ought to open your own LFS and fix that quality problem

Let me know what you want. I'll find it & let it recover in my tank for awhile then I'll ship it to you. I get my corals right off the truck. I usually put them on hold for a week. No, I don't even have to put it in my tank. I'll just ship after it's been in the store for at least a week. As soon as you tell me how to ship stuff. I only shipped out some xenia once & she said it didn't look good when it arrived.

Sorry to hear that Saquatch, do you have any good on-line stores up there ? I have seen some videos from tanks up north and they're quite spectacular so I'm sure somebody up there must get some good livestock.
