OT: frustrated w/ no job

some/ most of you might not know that the wife and i lost our jobs, plant closed. July 21 was my last day
the wife has found a job already, she was laidoff about 2-3 weeks before i was. the Maint department was the last to leave
those that know me (a lot of new 'faces' here), know that our plant made wheels for GM, they decided not to renue our contract to make them wheels and have the wheels made overseas, great for americans

i never really stoped and took a look at our economy (job wise) till now, i cant believe how hard it is to find a job w/o having to drive 100miles.

i have had a few interviews, and still waiting for another to get back for a the 3 of 4 interviews, picky place (dont blame them)

i am frustrate mainly because i am getting boored, only good thing is i now have time to 'fix' my tank, well sorta

it is nice to be back on the Sanctuary

o-well i guess i really havent said anything, lol

Jay

Re: OT: frustrated w/ no job

I for drive for Coke and this has been the slowest we've been in at least 10 years, alot of mom/pop stores tell me it's the worst they've seen in many years... I don't know how people say the economy is doing great

Good luck !

Re: OT: frustrated w/ no job

Gonna agree. While the market may be doing ok, more and more people are losing REAL jobs, and all they can find are "McJobs" to replace them...Outsourcing may be good for the corporations, but IMO, it's BAD for America...
TDevil, come on out to Kahleeforneeya...while the cost of living here is higher, it's still like a supermarket of jobs...for those with marketable skills and/or higher education. Maybe the NUMMI plant in Fremont...(New United Motors Manufacturing Inc.) They make Toyota vehicles IIRC...

Kinda know what you are going through. I graduated college in 03, I'm still managing a pet store. I was hoping for a better job by now. I'm trying to save up to move out to Cal, or Florida and get into the wholesale industry.

Re: OT: frustrated w/ no job

...this year I have seen quite a few liquor stores go out of business...for a type of industry that is practically recession proof, that says alot for the economy!
Don't give up...keep looking, even if its a different type of job than you thought you would ever do.
Another venue would be to go back to school...that's what my wife did. She hit the books pretty hard this time around and graduated as an RN...was offered a job even before she had her diploma and is currently earning almost 72k/year and only works 3 days a week.

Re: OT: frustrated w/ no job

Hang in there! I lost my job the end of August. Like you, a few 2nd interviews, possibilities looming - they're still just that - possibilities. Two months ago, 6 mths of unemployment pay looked like plenty. Now I'm starting to get nervous. Even though my husband has a good job, I have things I want to do!

Remember - all things work for good.

Re: OT: frustrated w/ no job

I know how everyone feels... I own a daycare business and ALWAYS thought it was job security because there are alot of people having kids ,WRONG... If those parents dont work I dont work.... Many many many families are getting jobs cut, jobs are dropping to part time... and of course I am taking the kick to because they dont need a sitter if they arent working.

And at the same time everything in price from groceries to everyday bills like water and heat, electric,, everyother day expenses are on the rise...

The economy is very scarey....
