NY Plane Crash

Former Phillie Cory Lidle's plane crashed into an apartment building this afternoon... this is so sad... He just pitched for the yankees a couple days ago..

Keep his family in your prayers.. He was married with a little boy...

Re: NY Plane Crash

Gotta love the news media......Bloomberg said it was a instructor and student in the plane.........no confirmation of Lidle being in the plane........

Re: NY Plane Crash

Instructor and student, is probably correct...

Student being Cory Lidle in his own plane...
And his instructor was taking him site seeing...

Re: NY Plane Crash

I just find it shocking (well, not really, it is news media) that they are saying 'he is dead' and they have no confirmation of that. It may be his plane (registration pending) and they found his passport on the street, but that doesn't mean he was in the plane.

Maybe he rents the plane out? Maybe he left his passport in the plane? Why would he bring his passport site seeing?

It very well could be him, but for the news to be putting up he's dead and having no confirmation of that is just wrong. Either way, hope it wasn't him. Just a sad situation all around for whoever it was.

Re: NY Plane Crash

I'm pretty sure they just now confirmed it. I could be wrong but from what my local news is saying I'm not wrong.

Re: NY Plane Crash

IIRC there have been 8 crashes now of Cirrus SR-22 aircraft. Most all seem to be pilot error and most buy far where beginner pilots. This is a very sophisticated plane to fly and has problems similar to the F-104 Starfighter. " You better know what you are doing if you are going to be flying me I'm very unforgiving." Meaning you can not make errors. In most airplanes they are some what slow to response, so if you make a small error it can be corrected. Not so in this plane or the F-104. They are like a driving Ferrari, you turn there is no room for any error, it is immediate and very quick. One reason its that it is flown with a side stick and not the traditional "wheel" column. Something new in small private planes but common if fighter jets. You can't drive a 1969 four-door sedan Chevrolet's all you life and then jump in a 2006 Ferrari and hit the road course. You will be in the woods

Re: NY Plane Crash

I just herd it was a SR-20. He was trying to make a 180 deg turn, in to short a distance at 120 knots, which stalled out the plane.
