Re: Keep Witfull in your thoughts

ok, time for an update. as for the rehab she was in,,,,lets just say i wouldnt reccommend the place. the staff was poor in accomidation and very slow in services and even failed to follow their own stated directives. another issue was their food. id some one is in hospital, i know its not home cooking, but it should be palatable. after days of tasting her food (let along visual appearance) im surprised if a dog would eat it.

a few days ago i moved Mom to a different facility, and have noticed remarkable changes. the best thing is she is not on "prescribed" antidepressents. her energy level and alertness have greatly increased. its funny as well as at one place shes severe diabetic and at the other shes not. after looking at her charts (which i was not allowed to see at the old place) she is not diabetic.

today she was sitting in a chair and feeding herself. i also saw something i havent in over 6 weeks, a smile. we talked for over an hour and she was alert and responsive. she still has retention and vocal issues, as well as co-ordination and weakness issues. but day by day by day.

thanks for listening to my babble.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

She's blessed to have you by her side. Good for you for stepping in and being assertive on your mom's behalf. We have to be our own advocates in the medical system!

All the best.

Good for you Witfull, it seems a lot of care facilities are just storage yards for the infirm, I can imagine your Moms future if you werent aggressive. all the best. Steve

Glad to hear your mom is improving. The care facility makes all the difference in the world. Still praying for you and your family. Hopefully your mom will be able to be home for the holidays.
