Re: Keep Witfull in your thoughts

Hello my friends, today was a miracle day. my mother was placed into a "step-down" room, which is basically a regular room, but still on the ICU floor.her doctors are amazed at her recovery. being that on sunday she had a less than 5% survival rate, and if so, serious disminishment of motor/mental skills. she is totally aware of what has happened to her, has almost full speech with mild slurring, minor loss of hand control in her left hand, and has trouble with balance while standing. we are already making plans on a rehab facility.

its a long road, but so far the good Lord has blessed her. i thank everyone who has taken time to stop and send prayers/good karma to my mother. i truly believe in the healing through positive energy. please keep the vibes going!

im holding strong, i have to be. its hard to see her like this. while at the hospital i have to be nuturer and disiplinarian, and that is hard. when i get home that is when my human fraility shows through and i break down. i hope no one here ever has the fear of the phone ringing as i have had.

its a good day,,and im holding on to that.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Re: Keep Witfull in your thoughts

Haven't read this in several days. Glad to hear she's at least holding her own after this severe shock to the system. Strokes, while bad, are recoverable in many cases, (as I'm sure the docs have told you), so let's hope she is able to gain as close to a full recovery from this as possible. My grandmother went thru several of them in her waning years, some minor, others not so minor, but she did manage to maintain most of her faculties and abilities.
It's tough getting old and watching your elder family members go thru this kind of stuff. I know first hand. Both my wife's parents are gone, as are both of mine. WE are now the "old folks" in the family.
My best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to her, Dave.
