Thumbs down WetWebMedia people.

Why do they have to be so negative and mean? I simply asked a question and they got all ticked off and then they told me to go read on their web site when I told them I all ready read all their articles. If you have questions, ask on the forums because you'll know you will get a nice and polite response. Sorry just had to get this off my hand.

Re: WetWebMedia people.

They get hundreds, if not thousands of questions there every day. MOST can easily be answered by simply reading thru the myriad of information that's available on the site. The "philosophy" is kind of "make you do your own research, because you'll learn MORE by reading, than by just asking". I don't entirely disagree with them. WAY too many people don't want to do the work involved with learning why, they just want someone to TELL them why. You will learn a lot more their way...

Re: WetWebMedia people.

Yeah I know but when I'm done reading the articles and then ask them a question they get ticked off. Only some do.

Re: WetWebMedia people.

Nah, you're just being sensitive...again, consider how many questions they get daily that could easily be answered by simply reading the many articles and FAQ's on the site...

Re: WetWebMedia people.

all sites have their own positives and minus'. take each as they are. i know this is a PC type of response, but its the truth. some sites (RS) are more user friendly~

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Re: WetWebMedia people.

Also, sometimes you are frantic and looking for the best answer as quickly as possible. While I certainly encourage people to use the knowledgebase here or post links to other sites that I feel are relevant, there is lots of info and sometimes it is hard to get through all of it.
I love the friendly responses given on RS and appreciate the fact that the members, even if they disagree with you, are always helpful and nice. Many go the extra mile and provide relevant links as well which I also love, and almost all try to be positive even in a bad situation.

Re: WetWebMedia people.

I haven't been on WWM in some time, nor asked them a question, but the responses I got were always friendly and helpful. It's always been one of my favorite reef sites on the web. Who responded rudely? Sounds like maybe they were just having a bad day. (they are human, after all)

Re: WetWebMedia people.

Not that difficult questions dont get answered here but I definetly think RS is great for rookies, I have seen the same people answer the same simple rookie questions over & over & always friendly. Some people just dont remember what it was like first starting out & now think they are too good to answer simple questions. Thats why RS is my favorite site

What was your question? maybe we can answer it here?

Actually, if people would use the search feature found on most websites, they would most likely find that their "newbie" question has already been answered dozens of times. That doesn't stop any of us "OFR's" from answering the same old question over and over, but it's a fact,
YOU LEARN MORE BY DOING THE RESEARCH AND READING IT YOURSELF, THAN BY HAVING SOMEONE TELL YOU THE ANSWER.

So, anyway, what WAS the question you asked at WWM? I'm sure someone here can & will answer it for you...

Re: WetWebMedia people.

It is important to remember that most people enjoy conversation and interaction with people. It is human nature to desire companionship in even the most trivial of situations but especially when they are confused about a certain topic. Why do any of us here at RS bother to ask when we could go to the local library or book store and buy a book? I consider myself extremely patient and full of compassion for most humans I do not mind answering the same question over and over again. With that said, I avoid posting when I've had a bad day

Another factor involved is interpretation... sometimes a description or directions can be interpreted different ways leading some to question a point that others would see clearly.

I've never used wetmedia to ask a question but instead rely on all the brainiacs here at RS to fullfill my needs

Re: WetWebMedia people.

Well the question really wasn't a big deal. I told them all about my shark scenerio. I asked them if they thought the death was due to my lion and they told me "Yeah, lions aren't compatible. You just don't read much do you? Go back to our site and read". WOW was that rude!

Re: WetWebMedia people.

That was a little rude but...I wouldnt put 2 fish in the same tank without researching if they were compatible FIRST.
