Jobs

I'm trying to find a job now and it's been hard to decided on where I should sign up. I wish there was a lfs around that could hire me but they are family own (I can see they have no clue about saltwater fish either). I don't want to work at a grocery store. It's either Target, a couple miles away or an ice cream place that starts at $8.50 hr, it's a longer drive to it though.Where was your first job at?

First job was Dog-N-Suds at the age of 16.
Dog-N-Suds is still in Greenwood, Indiana and is one of the last old drive-ins.

Re: Jobs

First job was a farm hand doing the summer haying and cleaning out barns. Talk about slave labour! I away from that one as soon as possible to get a better education so I would never have to be a labourer again!
My second job was much better, I working in the tutoring at DeVry in the electronics programs.

Re: Jobs

Dad was a carpenter - childcare in our family was going to the shop with dad. So from before I can remember I was a carpenter! LOL. Actually, I think I pushed a broom for 50 cents an hour staying busy in the shop and on location picking up behind dad and his crew. Later on I actually learned the trade. But as for a first job -- broom. :-)

Re: Jobs

First REAL job, (one that I actually earned a paycheck for) was the USMC. Dropped out of high school at 16, lied about my age, and enlisted...turned 17 on a hill not far from Da Nang...
Went into construction after I got out, and worked as a crane operator for most of 30 years.
Have you considered applying for an apprenticeship in one of the trades?
