Have you considered applying for an apprenticeship in one of the trades?
good point Boomer... I am an electrician... And in philly we are so busy.. You could alway be a seasonal helper in a union if apprenticeships are not taking applications..

Re: Jobs

First job I really had was a telemarketing firm.. it was fun being in high school and being promoted to be supervisor of the firm and getting to be all of your friends that worked there's boss... NOT.

Paid good money though.

I could never handle the armed forces.. I have great respect for everyone that can do that.. not me though.. I do not take orders well.

Re: Jobs

First "official" job was at at grocery store at 15. Youngest age you could get a work permit at that time. Kept the job through high-school.
Worked in various odd jobs before that.

Re: Jobs

As far back as I can remember I've always helped dad at the store..was not a real job as I never got paid for it...I was a young boozer
while a teenager I got short summer jobs..
Porter, doorman, parking lot cashier, yacht director, gas station attendant.
Holding odd jobs is great while you are in school learning towards a career or
interning as an apprentice is also a great way to learn while you get your hands on..that way when you get your license you will already have all the practical knowledge you will need to get a good start.

Re: Jobs

Don't you want to be a biologist? Then you should take the smallest pay for the longest hours. It will help to prepare you for a carreer in science. LOL, just kidding, but not really.

Gina, the original Dog & Suds started just a 1/2 mile from me in Champaign Illinois, If I remember right it was started by a school teacher or UofI professor...been closed for years & then they opened a new one & the service was horrible & closed within a year.

My first summer job was on a hog farm, first real job when 14 was at an LFS.

Re: Jobs

My first job was lifeguarding at a waterpark then later for the school board. I wish I could take all that sun exposure back. Melanoma Stage 3 is the result.

Re: Jobs

Cartman, you are in Branson, Mo the tourism capital of the show me state. I would think that all of those dinner clubs, lounges, and show bars need waiters, bus boys, bar backs, and just all around crew. The restaurant/lounge biz was my first job. Hourly wage sucked but the tips were great. You should hit every club on the strip and put in an application. Even if you're under the legal age you should be able to find something to support your fish habbit.

Re: Jobs

My roomate in college worked for a local record store, that was a really cool job for him, not my type of gig, but for him it was great. And honestly one of the best places you can buy music from, unfortunately best buy and wally world put them out of buisness.
