__________________ 265 Gallon Reef built into basement wall. Lighting = 6x250 watts MH, 2x96 watt PC ,and 2x140 watt VHO for a total watt of 1,972 watts . New addition on 4-14-07 of 100 gallon sump and 100 gallon refugium. I think I have lost my mind. Gotta love this hobby VickiLife is like a pathway of untrodden snow. | Ichthy Inquisitor | Re: OT: giant crabs invade IMHO I find it very "short sighted" to introduce any species without researching the effect it has a given ecosystem. We do have a better understanding of what this can do. It can happen naturally but just to increase the yeild of one species for our consumption...I have problems with that thinking... Cheers!

What they will probably do is yield to the fishermen's demands and increase the catch, trying to level off the numbers of crabs and create a sustainable harvest. What they ought to do is allow them to catch all they can, and fish them out of the area. This will never happen because jobs and a food source will be lost. So the crabs will likely not be going anywhere and the ecosystem will change to reflect.
