Earthquake!

Just hit. I always get freaked out... was that a fore-shock hinting at a bigger one comin' up in a few minutes?

Our tank is not secured to the wall (like all our other tall furniture) because some say leaving it to sway is better -- and some say bolting the stand to the wall is better...

Oh well -- another day in San Francisco...

I'll just pour some coffee and move on.

what you can do is secure the tank with bungy cord,,,stretches and will allow it to vibrate,,,but will keep it from toppling over.

not sure who needs a drink more,,,you or me,,,,but i know one thing,,,im having one~

The quake was just a 4.7 centered in southern Santa Clara County (about 70-80miles south of SF). Press reporting no damage.

Bungy cord... interesting idea but sounds pretty ugly. Oh the dilemma between engineering and archetecture! Gotta give this one some thought.

the 1971 was 6.5, i was in Glendale at the time...and the epicentre was juyst outside of Simi Valley. never went back to LA after that,,,i went to my uncles for for vacation in El Centro,,,the GP's can drive to see me. living in Hawaii, i can deal with Volcanos,,,buth their sister EQ'a...you can keep 'em!

Sorry Woodstock not yet.
And I'll take our hurricanes any day over earthquakes. At least we get some notice. Of course it could be since I have lived in FL since I was 5 and hurricanes are known, while I have never been through an earthquake.
UGGH Conference call in 10 minutes. I hate conference calls.
