Looking for a Local Source for this product:

I scanned this picture from page 105 & 107 of The Simple Guide to Marine Aquariums by Jeffrey Kurtz. I hate to scan copyrighted work, but let's call it civil disobedience. Pictures are worth 1000 words and I am unable to find this product anywhere despite my attempt to describe it accurately. . .

Re: Looking for a Local Source for this product:

Mad Mike, those were instructions for making my own! Yuck. I don't want to do that. My back up plan is just stock the whole thing with the real stuff and ignore the pipe work.

Stalwart: pumice is natural, I think this stuff is man made.

But again, this is all pretty mysterious . . no conclusions yet.

And yes, I agree they look like floral blocks.

Re: Looking for a Local Source for this product:

Those floral blocks are way too light, even the pumice, some of it anyway, floats. Not sure what that is in the pics. Keep us posted if you find anything out.

I bought for blocks of www.cellpore.com.

Cell pore is heavy and not carvable, so I still haven't figured out what the stuff is in the picture.
