Anyone exerience leaks/issues with JBJ 28 gallon nano cubes?

Hi all. I am a novice saltwater aquarist, having set up my JBJ 28 gallon nano cube nearly two months ago. Recently, I noted the appearance of water around the bottom of the aquarium on its stand. Initially, I suspected it was 'collateral water' resulting when I lifted the lid to make tank adjustments.

In short order I realized it was a leak. Upon further inspection, I noticed on the right rear of the tank, where the black tape/sticker is applied, water was pushing out from under the black tape. It is getting progressively worse. I "Google'd" the issue and noted several postings.

Does anyone out there have any experience with this issue or this company? Is it better to check in with the online company who sold the tank (a very reputable company) or contact JBJ directly? I did send in my warrantly card. Nevertheless, my fear is that I will come home to water-soaked floors and dead critters. I am anxious to hear your stories and read your advice?

Thanks in advance! I will post new photos of the aquarium once everything moves into the new tank.

While I haven't had that problem with either of my 28 gal JBJ's, I have called them about a broken pump and they sent me a new one quickly. I've also ordered new parts for my lights (unfortunately the warranty had already expired) and they were easy to deal with then too.

    I'd call JBJ directly.

Thank you, Sara, for the advice. I anticipated JBJ would be responsible and I called them this morning. I completed their RMA request form and returned it, requesting a response to ensure I provided the correct information. I requested a reply and didn't receive one, calling back to leave a message with this particular employee's co-worker.
As others advised, I requested they ship today so I may minimize any risk to my livestock and the home.

Sorry to hear about the leak. Although I never had a problem with mine, my LFS swears "JBJ" stands for junk by junk. He hasn't had much luck. I'd call both the company you bought it from and JBJ. One of them will make it right.

    Hey PSU,

I literally laughed out loud when I read your reply! So far, JBJ has not been very customer-focused (not returning phone calls, requests for replies to emails). So, even though I requested overnight shipping, due to the fear of livestock loss and damage to my hardwood floors, it appears they are shipping a replacement, due to arrive in four days. Additionally, they are requesting I return the damaged aquarium (providing a UPS slip to ship back).

Perhaps I should alert the online provider, so they are aware?
Again - thanks for your reply!

At least you're getting a new one! That's a good thing. I'm not sure where you got it from but most online retailers only back their own products from my experience.

I'd prepare some fresh sw and get ready for the new one and start planning on your next tank

I think in all fairness JBJ has done a good job. 4 days you get a new tank and that is not good enough? Did you offer to pay the difference in over night shipping which would have cost 3/4 of what you paid for the whole tank.
I'm also sorry about the leak, and know how much work you have gone through. But look on the bright side, new tank and you get to do things differently if you choose.

Hi all. Update - last Friday the new tank arrived. I disassembled the components (received bare-bones from manufacturer), attached old hood, transplanted live rock, substrate, livestock and coral. Today is Tuesday and everyone seems to be thriving. Cyclist, you are correct, it was an opportunity to set up the tank a bit differently. I am thankful JBJ honored their warranty - I was only worried the leak would worsen over the course of the four days I waited for the replacement tank. Thankfully, it didn't worsen. Now, I am waiting for UPS to pick up the old tank, of which I am (understandably) required to return to JBJ.

Ok, I am going to chime in here again. jbj lighting has very rode staff, and also their 28g nano cube is not 28 gallons. Then tank is not 18X22X22, the tank is actually 18X18X18.
