Talking JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

This thread is all about the JBJ 6 gallon tank. It is for you to view and post anything about the JBJ 6 gallon. And maybe if you're nice you can post some stuff about the BC 8 gallon, maybe. Let us all know details about your tank example: PICTURES, what fish you have, modifications, PICTURES!, corals, fuge, etc...
I've had my tank running for about 3 months. I will try to post some pictures tonight.

Let the games begin!!!!

Re: JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

DendroGuro - where's the pics? As you know I also started up a JBG 6 about 2 weeks ago. Not much to look at yet, but I'll try to get some pics up this weekend.

cbrownfish - I saw your tank for sale on RASOC, but it was after I already had mine (mine had been in the box waiting to be set up for over a month). You really did a nice job with your variations.

Re: JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

DendroGuru - any picture is better than none. I just took one of mine. I've put a couple corals in, and added a "Piece of the Reef" rock from Pacific East a couple days ago - the one with a lot of polyps and a couple mushrooms on the left front:

If the 3 peppermint shimps in this tiny tank would stop walking on the polyps they might get a better chance to open! I think I need to transfer 1 or 2 of them to my other tank.

So far things are going pretty well after a few weeks, and the only diatom outbreak that I've had has been on the rock and not the substrate.

create overhangs and hiding spots for the shrimp.

Re: JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

Not easily visible, but there are numerous overhangs, and under the center of the rock is large cavern. The shrimp are just always on the prowl for food, especially when I get near ther tank. They're as bad as the fish in my 34G tank - always begging!

Re: JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

still too lazy to post some pics of my tank. (trust me, pics arn't nearly as good as the real thing, and I suck at photography)

anywho, I've been struggling with temps, and everyone says fan, and ice. well I didn't think the fan would cool it down too much, so I've been using ice. the ice only cooled the tank a couple of degrees.

So I finally got a $10 fan to put on the tank. all day the tank has been 11 degrees cooler! insteed of 86ish the tank is 75ish.

I should have done this 2 months ago!!!

On the temperature issue - are you running the stock lights or a higher wattage upgrade? My tank is stock - 18 W, and my temperature gets up to 80 after the lights have been on 12 hours. But, I keep the house cool - 70-72 F. How did you mount the fan?
