| Harlequin Tuskfish | Hello everyone. Just finished doing a water change and everything is good in terms of water parameters. I'm thinking about purchasing a clean up crew within a few days from now. I'm new about these things. Some snails(which one?), i'm looking for smaller size snails. A crab or a shrimp would be nice too. How many do i need? |

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Clean up crew for a 10 gal...suggestions All that for a 10 gallon? I thought you were supposed to do one per 2 gallons or something like that, it just seems like a large amount for a small tank.

| Serpent Star | Re: Clean up crew for a 10 gal...suggestions i personally agree with varga, considering the chance of overfeeding in a ten gallon tank. more clean up crew the better. except the nassarius again considering it a ten gallon i doubt it will have much of a sand bed if any. |

| Harlequin Tuskfish | I'm only planning to put a neon goby and maybe a clown for fish. The rest will be lps, shrooms n zoos. I like smaller snails so it won't knock my rocks when they move. Not using the shrimp as a clean up crew. I just wanna have one. |

| Reef Nerd :) ![]() | Re: Clean up crew for a 10 gal...suggestions Granted you do want a "Healthy" CUC for a 10g but keep in mind they too produce a large amount of by-products which will pollute the tank just as well as the "over-feeding". They only utilize about 10 -20% of what they take in which leaves the rest to decay and foul your tank. I find it highly disturbing to go into a 10g tank with the notion of over-feeding on your mind. Granted it's "Easier" to do with a 10g but in that same token that should make you strive even harder to NOT over feed. I'm not just "blowing steam" here as I HAVE a 10g, 12g and a 6g Reef Tank. Trust me when I say stock light and feed lightly. I have my 10g tank (the FragTank) set up with tons of CUC (not sure how many of what because it just gets some dropped in here and there from the other tank), 1 purple lobster, and one 6-line wrasse. I feed very sparingly and this tank is almost on Auto-Pilot with maintenance. I change our 30%+ a week in the water change for good measure. I really like going to reefcleaners.org for my CUC. Once there you can go to the "CUC Calculater" located at ReefCleaners.org and input your tank specs. From there John will email you his suggestions for a CUC. Be warned... at first it may seem "Heavy" but I HIGHLY trust his suggestions as I feel it went a LONG way to resolving a nasty algae problem I WAS having in my 90g tank. Good luck and Happy Reefing ![]()
