Re: Bubble Algae

Emerald green crab will eat the bubble, you can remove with tweezers but dont let it burst.

removing hair algae.....I'll let someone else help with that

Re: Bubble Algae

Hair algae, I got the same problems. I think tangs and blennies will eat that. for the bubble algae, I just picked it out with my fingers.

Re: Bubble Algae

not true. My emeralds eat it. I bought one piece of live rock with two spots on it and they completely removed it. They keep the little bit around my trumpet corals in check but with the diatom on the sand they haven't concentrated on it as much. Now that I have lesss diatom forming I am seeing them eating the hair algae more.
I've also been told lawn mower blennies will sometimes eat it.

Re: Bubble Algae

Emerald crabs will eat bubble algae but not hair algae from my experience. I don't personally trust emerald crabs, I've kept them a few times in the past and I think they got a fish or two while I wasn't looking. Can't prove it but I'm pretty sure. As far as the hair algae, I've got an algae blenny and he'll eat the algae film on the glass but won't touch the hair algae. A sea hare may do the trick but I haven't personally seen anything eat that really bad hair algae. I've got a nice hair algae free tank with the exception of 2 small spots that have hair algae that I just can't seem to get rid of. I'll be tagging along to see if anyone has a way to get rid of this stuff.
