| Limpet | Money question Hello all, I was just wondering, if you are willing to share, how much money do you have invested in your nano reef? I have had salt tanks in the past and know that they can get quite expensive but I cannot seem to quit keeping them. Money has always been a factor of putting them up because i could never get it like I wanted it. Anyway share if you would like........ Mike |

| Has been struck by the ban stick | Re: Money question Well, over the course of the year that my 29 cube has been set up...I am now on my 3rd light system, and the tank is just about fully stocked. I am probably upwards of $1400+ easy, thats with the cost of the tank and stand added in. |

| Reef Nerd :) ![]() | Re: Money question I do like slakker... if I don't have CASH I don't buy.. I save and buy.. this way it's all paid for up front! now for a dollar amount.. oh MY!! Last time I sat down and added it all up (not included maintenance salt etc) I had right at $900 in my 12g NanoCube (with upgrades). It's hard to SEE that much in such a small tank but it all adds up over time.

| Golden Moray | Re: Money question I think I have about 500-600 in my daugters bio-cube 14 and it still needs more rock , has no corals(well 2 little polyps and a couple shrooms) and only one fish. I am debating a light upgrade too. I should say though of the money I have invested I have enough calcium supplement for at least a year. Probably the same for marine buffer and enough test kits for a few months. I really like the idea of building it a rock at a time. It gives you time to really see the life on one rock before going to the next and it also gives you an appreciation of the new pieces. Plus its easier to afford 20-30 dollars a month vs 800-1000 dollars at one time. But theres no getting around the initial set up amount. Even the least expensive reef ready nano tank , salt mix, sand , supplements and test kits are probably gonna come in at around 300 bucks. When I went to buy this bio cube I spent a couple hours with the LFS writing down everything I needed to get the tank up and running so there were no surprises. I'd suggest you do the same. Add about 100 bucks for incidentals and the thing you forgot. |

| Limpet | Re: Money question Very interesting everyone. I would hate to count up the dollars that I have spent on this hobby over the years. I am sure enough to buy a good vehicle. I enjoy it though and that is what matters. My next project is a 24 aquapod that is on its way ....already got about 320.00 in it so far and a loooong way to go. |
