Am I crazy?

Hi, first off I'm new to RS. For some reason I love small sw aquariums. I not quite sure why, but they fascinate me more than big large ones. People had told me it is impossible to keep such small aquariums, but I haven't had any trouble, knock on wood. They tell me it is impossible to keep salinity right, pH, temp, etc. But I just look at them like they are stupid. Am I just lucky? I actually am thinking about a 1.5 gallon soon. I will post some pics of my 10 and 5 for those who are interested later, they are being rebuilt as we speak, so don't be expecting too much.

PS: when I mean small, I mean 10 gallon max!

Welcome aboard!

It's not that they are impossible, they just require a higher level of care.
Congrats on your attention to the small details in your tanks!

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Thanks, in all reality, I give the fish food, fill up the water once a week, clean it once a week, test the water every other week, and the tanks does the rest. The small details are something I like actually doing. I guess that's because I build scale rc airplanes, you need to be able to do small details! What I think has to do with it is since they were so small I splurged on this water called "Real Ocean Water" by aquatic gardens. Everything is perfect out of the box. I actually tried on the 10 gallon from scratch, but in the end nitrates went sky high and I eventually gave up and started a new. I now use nothing but that in a new aquarium. At $10 for 5 gallons it is a tad bit expensive for large aquariums. But I love it! The cost isn't that much to me since I only use it when I start a new aquarium.

Re: Am I crazy?

thanks! Hey does anyone when you buy stock for your tank give you strange looks when you tell them how small your aquarium is? Cause I get some of the strangest looks when I tell them about mine.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

sorry for the bad picture, this is the day after re-aquascaping so the water still isn't really clear.
