Nano 28G or? for beginner

I'd like to have a nice reef tank at home with a few invertebrates and possibly 1 or 2 fish. I did a bit of reading and researching and so far the best way I've found to get started is with the [url="http://www.jbjnanocubes.com/contents/en-us/p10858.html"28g Nano Cube HQI Aquarium[/URL] - it seems like it has everything I need to get started. I was originally considering the 24 gallon model but the 28 gallon model ships complete with the accessories, etc. It's quite a bit more $$$ than I anticipated spending on a first try but I think even if I started with a 12 gallon tank i'd wind up spending close to the same $$$ after getting nice lights, skimmer, filters, pumps, etc.

This forum has a lot of experienced folks so I thought i'd post this to the forum and get some feedback whether i'm crazy or going in the right direction.


What I would like to have is a nice reef with various corals, a cucumber, possibly a starfish, etc. and maybe a fish. A guy I work with has a freshwater tank with some fish but to me there is nothing more gorgeous than a beautiful reef with invertebrates and possibly a clownfish poking its head out of anemones.

I don't think the cucumber would be a good idea, but everything else would be fine. A clown and maybe another small fish would look great in that, along with some crabs and a sexy shrimp or something.
