| Limpet | Should I go Viper MH on my JBJ nano? Just wanted some opinions on converting my setup. I currently have a 24g JBJ nanocube with the 64W PC deluxe hood. Everything is great with the tank. But I have often considered the other types of corals I could have if I go to metal halide lamps. The real question I have surrounds the fireplace and built-in cabinets we will be installing in a few months. The bookshelves will probably be about 1 foot above the top of the tank. If I stick with the deluxe hood it will be difficult to get back and service the system because I won't be able to lift the hood well without removing a shelf. If I have the viper metal halide clamped to the back I can reach to the back and not worry about a hood, but then I have to think about both water condensation on the bottom of the shelf above as well as what heat the MH lamps generate and what impact that may have on the shelf above. How much heat rises above the viper system? Any suggestions? It is always an option to make the shelf above more than 1 foot as well if necessary as the cabinets will be custom built. TIA for your suggestions. |
