| Midas Blenny | My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) well, here it is. We have had this going since the first of the year! We got it when a store was going out of business and had a 40% off sale so we got the stand and tank for 260. I love it so much that I would like to get another and replace my FOWLR tank ![]() dont know what this is, it grew spontaneously and has the consistency of cartilage ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) hope ya like! the ony problems are that a balast burnt out, but we were sent a replacement. Also, when oceanic sent a new fan, it included 2, and it seems like they move a LOT more air and are twice as quiet!!! |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) I am keeping my eye on divers den from drs foster and smith - they are a short 1.5 hour drive from here and their divers den stuff is located there as well! Its nice because everything on their website is available there from their warehouse or retail store |

| Limpet | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) What are the thoughts on that much coral in a tank started in January? Just asking because my nano is the same age and nowhere near that much "stuff". Looks nice though. What is pic #4, and does it grow under 64W PC lighting? |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) its a hairy mushroom we picked up at our store. Its pretty cute i think! Im sure that like must mushrooms you would be fine with those under PC lighting. I only have the stock lighting on the cube. We were lucky to have gotten all fully cured rock from our aquatic store covered in coralline, and i used pieces from our other established tank. The store is about 2 hours away (lol the other direction from DRS F&S) that specializes in saltwater fish, reef stuff and everything else. THe fish there are the healthiest i have ever seen, and they write the date that the fish was shipped to them next to the price. everything is doing so very well. I did the discus thing for a number of years, and i have to say that in comparison, reef-keeping is much less demanding! no daily water changes! i haven't had a problem with any temperature fluctuations in a small tank either, It stays at 78. Heater is located on the bottom of chamber 3 laying horizontally under the plastic grate. |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) cant argue about good water params tho, no hair algae, no red slime, no diatoms and good growth so far Does anyone have any ideas on what that thing is with the consistency of cartilage? its probably just a kind of algae - but having gone to school for bio, i would really like to know! |

| Manta Ray | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) Valonia (Bubble algae). It is good to hear that the crabs are keeping the population down. But if it is on a rock that can be easily removed from the tank, I would consider manual extraction. They are easily removed, just don't squeeze. If they pop you could have an issue. Doublecheck that phosphate level. Alone, good parameters won't get rid of it, but it might slow its progress. |
