| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) Yah, its been set up since january. Everything is doing great I had the xenia drop a polyp down to the ground in prep to split. I had the mushroom put down a little one too. Those clove polyps are going to grow really fast...they have already spread down the side of the rock and are putting out feet to go on different rocks. The frogspawn too looks like the heads have grown further apart. The zoa's have grown a number of new heads as well! picked up a few new things over the weekend and heres a pic of the new aquascapin' Hope ya like ![]() AND..........on a side note....drove up to drs foster and smith and picked up anther cube to transfer my hexagon fowler tank over too...going to be LPS mostly tank ![]() ![]() |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) pic was taken today at 930 this morning. THe only thing that was so helpful in setting up this tank was the live rock being ready to go, and living an hour away from the place selling it. It was kept in a styrofoam box and was still warm and soaking wet when we got home. Nothing was pre-set up when we got the tank ![]() the mushrooms are usually more expanded, but i had to be at work at 10, and the lights just came on so not everything is quite awake lol |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) I am also 4 months into my first reef, which is an Oceanic Biocube 8 gal. I had some stumbles early on, a heater malfunctioned and made some sushi, but lately it is running well, recently added a polyfilter and some ion exchange balls from Drs F and S, water clear, but I aspire to have my tank look like yours someday |

| Tunicate | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) Wow that looks really really nice. So did you buy ready mixed saltwater and all the rock/corals at the same time and bring it all home and set it up quickly? How did you rinse/wash the new tank to get the dust and stuff out? I am thinking about getting all of the hardware, (tank, refugium, pumps, lights), take it home and set it up and then go back on a 2nd trip to get plenty of pre-mixed saltwater, live rock and maybe a mushroom and some corals to put in. After looking at your setup that you did all at once it looks like it's definitely doable - your tank looks fantastic. |

| Midas Blenny | Re: My first reef tank (Oceanic biocube 29) not set up at the same time. I brought the cured live rock home and had that in there for 5-6 weeks with a lawnmower blenny and cleanup crew before adding anything. everything got added a few weeks apart. It definitely took a while for the tank to settle after adding the sand and rocks! The frogspawn has really grown....and so has the xenia! I dont think getting premixed saltwater is going to do anything to speed the process up. there really isnt anything living in there to do any good.
