Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

Its how a basic wet/dry filter is setup...a cont. siphon up top...with a sump/fuge/skimmer on the bottom with a return pump. Its like a textbook setup....simple

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

and whats the odds the syphon failing?

for the water leaving the sump...should i drill into the plastic wall thing and put like a bulk head like the one i have now for more water movement?

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

You could drill out the back, put in a bulkhead & plumb it.

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

For a 14 gal cube I would think you wouldn't need anything more than 1".

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

All depends on what kind of flow you want.

Take a look at what this guy did with his 28 gal cube Jasonanatal's JBJ 28 gallon Nano Cube HQI Nano Reef Aquarium.

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

It would work but you always have to worry about air bubbles collecting in the siphon tube. Also have to worry about what would happen in a power failure.

Re: for you nano/cube experts...i got a question..?

i dont think a siphon will work at all. How would u restart the siphon when the power goes out and you are not home. The power kicks back on and the return pump empties the sump into the tank overflowing it til the pump is dry and running the pump dry could lead to a possible fire.... sounds like a little hole for a bulkhead and a home made durso standpipe could be in order
