Re: biocube 14gallon skimmer

I know some people hate these but on small tanks I've had great success with prizm skimmers.

Ive also got the oceanic skimmer and although it is small it is pulling out skum, especially since added the fish, the foam concentration ahs doubled. It really does work

Re: biocube 14gallon skimmer

Im not sure I understand what you are doing...BUT most people I know who have BC14s, if they make a fuge they do it in the middle rear chamber by removing the false floor, scraping the paint of the back (just enough for a light) na dbuy a cheap LED or desk lamp to put over the are where the paint was removed to light up the fuge.

The sump is a whole other question

hope this helps

Re: biocube 14gallon skimmer

give ya another tip, loose the false bottoms, bioballs in Chamber 2 and you can keep your heater in chamber 3 with your pump instead of IN yout tank.

just watch your water levels as your brand of heater will turn off if the water level drops below a certain line

Re: biocube 14gallon skimmer

my LFS has one of those sapphire skimmers in the 29 gallon bio cube display tank that replaced the bio balls..perfect fit.

i purchased one of those 14/29 gallon oceanic protein skimmers...it did not impress me one bit. i stuck it in the intake chamber, it didnt pick up much foam in the collection chamber..mostly water that gets in because the collection chamber doesnt really seal well. the wooden air stones it requires clog up so quick you need to change them out every week.

if anyone wants mine ..you are more than welcome..

royal oak, mi
