Skimmer for Biocube 29

Finally got my Biocube, got it "used" but never had water in it - along with a bunch of other accessories included - all in all a good deal.

It came with a current fission skimmer which I know is garbage. Any suggestion on a replacement? I think the only 2 models presently available are the Oceanic Biocube skimmer (has an airstone), and the CPR SR3. I've not been able to find much in the way of reviews for either. Does anyone own either of these? If so do they produce good skimmate or just green tea?

My RO/DI filter will arrive next week then I'll be ready to go

Thanks much

DoP

Re: Skimmer for Biocube 29

I hear Euro-reef is coming out with a new nano skimmer soon. The Tunze I think 9002 is said to work OK. Myself, I am running skimmerless because I want my cube to be as quiet as possible. The effort it takes to empty and clean the skimmer cup, I use to make a water change. I sold the Remora and the Prism skimmers that I used to have. With the constant noise, bubbles and emptying and cleaning of the cup, I am happier skimmerless.
