Re: ZeroEdge aquariums...

my lfs has 3 set up. a 40 gal. rectangle, a 30 gal hex and a ?? gallon but its very big and is filleds with coral, they are all reefs, and they are doing great! i think they would be better as just a coral tank, but then flow is a problem, scince there is nowhere to put a powerhead without wires hanging out off of tank.

Yes, a zero edge tank by itself does look fantastic, but isn't the goal here to show off the reef? I think that the show is the corals and fish, not an exotic looking tank.
When you look down into a ZeroEdge (it's easy to do because they are designed to do that, the stands are low) it looks like you are peering into a lagoon or a reef. It's an amazing experience. So, you are showing off your reef tank in the most natural way possible.

Re: ZeroEdge aquariums...

What method is used to clean the actual acrylic? Being that it is acrylic, won't it scratch?

Re: ZeroEdge aquariums...

I finally saw once set up at a LFS. I like the concept and the tank, But the stand is cheaply made and looks tacky IMHO.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: ZeroEdge aquariums...

I love the way they look but they are completely impractical for fish. At MACNA last year there was someone standing there to do nothing but put the fish back in the tank. I saw one poor clown go over the edge at least 10 times.
I do think it would be awesome as a clam tank if you can manage all of the cleaning.

That's a job I could do. Clown catcher and putter back in the tank DOOD

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Re: ZeroEdge aquariums...

It was really pretty sad. There were a whole bunch of picasso clowns in the tank along with other fish. This one poor clown just keep going over and over. He looked toatlly stressed out and I doubt he lasted very long after the show.
