| Tunicate | Right pieces for my nano puzzle? This post is very similar to mine over in meet and greet but I thought I would move things here because I feel I am finally headed in the right direction. My plan is to set up a 20g nano that I piece together myself. I want to have a pair of fish, probably clowns and some coral. I plan on putting in 20 to 30lbs of LS and 20 to 25lbs of of LR My equipment that I think I should buy is listed below. Tank I plan on purchasing a standard glass rectangular 20G from a LFS Heater Jager 75w TS Submersible Heater Jager 100 W Heater 12 inch UL Approved (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Heaters > Glass Tube ) Powerhead x 1 Hydor Koralia Nano (Mini) Pump/Powerhead 240gph Hydor Koralia Nano (Mini) Pump/Powerhead 240gph (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Powerheads > Compact Pumps ) Skimmer AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer with Maxi-Jet 1200 Pump AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer with Maxi-Jet 1200 Pump (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Protein Skimmers > Hang On > Spray Injection ) Lighting 24 inch 2x65 Watt Current USA PowerCompact Dual Satellite Fixture 24 inch 2x65 Watt Current USA PowerCompact Dual Satellite Fixture (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Lighting > Fixtures > Power Compact > 24in Units ) I understand the benefits of a sump but my concern is space so my plan for right now is to not have one. I know this means a little more work for me but I can live with that. A lot of you have helped point me in this direction and I say thank you very much. I ask again that if you think I should do something more please let me know. If not I will go spend some well earned cash and post some pics of some pretty sand and rock in the near future. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Right pieces for my nano puzzle? Sounds like a very good and well thought out plan. Have you found your water source yet? Have you thought about what type of corals you want? You may not have enough light for the most light demanding like clams and anemones but you should be fine for softies and LPS. You might want to check out some T5 fixtures. They are cooler and brighter than Power Compacts. That is what I run on my 20g and 90g and I am very happy with them. I have the same skimmer you are getting on my 20 and I am very happy with it so you should be as well. Keep in mind the most important thing in this hobby is time. Take you time and let everything cycle properly and you will reap the rewards in time.
