Re: Confused on starting a Nano

Ok here goes. The current aquascaping:

And my first frag that will move into the new tank as soon as it splits. I call it the mother colony because it just keeps 'splitting' them out! It's a lovely green and purple ric with orange highlights.

Re: Confused on starting a Nano

Very nice RIC tiffany.

I am a HUGE fan of ALL the "euphies" and in my Nano I have:

torch hammer and Frogspawn. They do VERY well together and pose no threat to one another.

Re: Confused on starting a Nano

Ok ... I know I'm going to get a wrist slap. And that I've committed myself to daily water changes and EOD filter cleaning. But I'll preface that I've had a very bad day ... so I decided to drive 50+ miles to just go look at a fish store. I knew if I really wanted something we have the 55g so I wasn't opposed to buying. So we checked out this store we'd never been to. Won't name it because it was horrid FOUR ... FOUR yellow tangs in 20 long. Two of which I could see their ribs. Count their ribs with sunken faces. I've never seen a fish that skinny. In the SAME tank ... I'm not embellishing here. A naso tang as well. Then a few tanks over a dead fish. Diatom and cyano all over their liverock ... with a nice bit of hair algae as well. A dying leather in their main display tank ... Ugh. Not what I wanted to see. So then we went to another store. Where we originally bought our tank, but they stopped carrying saltwater ... they have one tank up. They say they can't sell saltwater items, it's no wonder when you put brain corals under freshwater lighting that no one wants to buy them. But at least their fish were healthy. Which leads to my next post ...

Re: Confused on starting a Nano

That's right ... the acclimation bucket is out again. Two juvenile clowns, about 3/4". They're adorable. The parameters on the tank have been steady and it was all cycled so I don't mind adding them to my 'reef-urbished' tank. But they're on a drip right now and I'll get pics when they're in the tank.

Waiting! They look good in acclimation. Did they eat for you at the LFS?

Re: Confused on starting a Nano

Yes they are voracious little hermaphs! They normally feed towards closing so they were hungry and didn't get a full meal so after they settled into the tank a bit I fed them and they ate a lot of food. That relieved me!
Here they are hanging out together.

Oh and btw I forgot to say thank you so much for all the compliments! Having everyone to help tweak the journey is what makes it more fun!!
