Frankie's nano experiment

I have decided i want a nano. I will build it out of starphire with a closed loop, glass euro brace, coast to coast exterior overflows, built in custom protein skimmer, chiller and pendant MH lighting.
This will be an sps tank for growing out frags. I am not to sure about adding fish yet. To soon to say.
I am not to sure of the gallons yet. I am going down to the local glass shop Tuesday to start pricing out the materials.
Feel free to give your suggestions!

Sounds awesome.
At first I was afraid you took away Lee's nano. Glad to see it is an additon instead. She is just so adorable. She needs a tank.

How many gallons for your nano?

I am not to sure just yet. It all depends on the cost of the glass. What actually determines a nano anyhow? I was thinking around 30 gallons.

Nano has become such a "loose" term it's really anything less than 50 in some eyes. Red Sea Max has their Nano 34g and I have seen others post on their Nano 60g.

Can't wait to see it!!!

I think any tank that uses "smaller" or "smallest" sized equipment is a nano. My LFS has just started carying a lot of the smaller pumps and PS's due to local demand.

Well, the skimmer i plan on building into the back overflow will be like the sapphire skimmer i saw here and in a store. It looks easy to build and works great. Mine will of course be made out of glass.
I am also planing on a sump for this. I need an area to keep a small nano chiller.

Micro - 10 gallons or less. Nano - between 10 and 20 gallons. Mini - between 20 and 45 gallons. As per a poll on Rag.

I am planning a 45 gallon Starfire mini with 30 gallon sump/refugium in the future. Good luck on designing your project!
