Re: Frankie's nano experiment

Yellow pages
Well i have been having trouble with my work truck and it has been sucking the money out of me So i haven't been able to get the glass yet. I plan on going down there this week sometime to sit down with the glass guy and plan this thing out. He won't build the tank but will supply and cut all the glass for me. I prefer it this way anyhow. I like to build my own stuff. I am sorry to keep you all waiting so long, I should have started this thread after i got the glass. I just didn't expect the truck to blow a head gasket and wire harness in one day! man, the harness is $1700 alone retail. (found one on ebay for $600 )
So please stand by!

Re: Frankie's nano experiment

Hey gang. Sorry to take so long responding to this thread. Life has been....well you know how it is
So i went down to the glass shop with plans in hand and they gave me my cost for the glass. $850! I really cannot justify this cost so i am going to move onto another search for the glass i want. If it comes down to it i will buy a full sheet and cut it myself. I rather a pro do it but i know how and will if it comes to that. This is just a small bump in the road and i will keep you all informed as i go.
If i end up cutting the glass myself it will make for a even better thread i think.

So what did you do to this company in the past to really "peeve" them off? I mean isn't that about 4x what it should be? That just seems awfully un-realistic to me.

Good luck Frank and keep us posted.

Allen

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

I am not to sure of the gallons yet. I am going down to the local glass shop Tuesday to start pricing out the materials.
Feel free to give your suggestions!
No Sas, This is one i am going to build myself. After having an aquapod and finding out how bad ALL the nanos out there are, being poorly made and not functional i want to build one the right way.
I guess the Starphire won't be needed. Being such a small tank ( 2'x2'x2'x2') no ones even going to see the tint in the glass at 3/8" material. It dawned on me last night that this was my mistake. ( I just like the SP glass so much!)

Re: Frankie's nano experiment

50 gal? thats not a nano thats a tank lol, no wonder the glass was so high, I was thinking half that size, it will look fine and with the $700 "change" youll get most of your equipment
