Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Well Its about time for a "Journal Entry" type of update:

February 29th, 2008:

I am lucky to have such minimal losses. I was looking over my livestock log, and I have traded/sold much much more than things that have died. Thats always a good thing. Anyway- I have notice lots of interesting things in the reef. Towards the Left rear(like it matters) I notice a few dozen of these tiny SOMETHINGS moving in one location--> They look to be like a small swarm of gnats on dry land. Its strange, they remain, the Scooter Blenny/dragonet, does not eat them.

I have watched these neon lime green tunicates grow and grow on select locations on my LR. Very very pretty, just watching to make sure they do not OVERGROW. Coralline is almost completely covering most of my rock, ALL of my back wall(reef b-day 6/8/07). Other than that, everything is just about normal. Well for some reason, I cannot keep chaeto alive for very long, about 3-4 weeks, and then it starts turning light light green, and begins to fall apart.

THIS PAST WEEK:
Last saturday I bought which was gonna be my last fish. IMO i found the nicest true perc. perfect stripes, even amount of black. He looked good. until that evening, he was swimming at the top, breathing heavy, fins clamped. All the bad signs. I said to the MRS. that he wouldnt make it through the night. Sure enough, there wasn't even a body, hey, at least my cleanup crew did its job. He was $16 +tax. I went back, they credited me, I PICKED UP a very very nice med Reg. flasher wrasse, he was $15 more, they gave me a break so it was $10 more-->$27 total(17 from the credit.) I took it home was floating him, HE WAS COVERED IN ICH, AAAHHHH(didnt even open the bag) took him back. got credit. Heard there was a big shipment of Ricordia's coming in. We are at TUESDAY now. i went after work, THEY WERE CLOSED due to the power outage!!! I ABOUT WENT NUTS, i wanted my corals!!!!! Well, they are closed on wednesday's!!! So, got off work early yesterday(Thurs.) STRAIGHT to the LFS. There was 3 or 4 GORGEOUS flasher wrasses. I PICKED UP ONE!! YESSS..It ended up being a Male Filamented Flasher, not just a regular flasher. His top fin is a very pretty yellow, with a few streaks of yellow on his body. He was in the tank after aclimation. I went grocery shopping and he has disappeared into the rock, I hope he is ok....Didnt see him this morning either. I will see if he is ok, and try my best to get some pics.. So back to the rest of the goodies...I ended up spending $14 bucks past my CREDIT, and got this frag for like $18 bucks!!!! very sweet!!! They are the brightest orange, with a tiny orange mouth, with white/blueish on the disc. Opened fully withing 3 hours.

hope you werent BORED with all of that MUMBO JUMBO.

Sweet Daniel, you'll love your Flasher Wrasse. They are jumpers, so make sure the tank is carpet surf safe.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Well good news, the flasher is doing pretty good, had a spot or 2 of ich, but now it is gone...and he is already eating mysis really good. AND I GOT A PICTURE!!!!!

I added to my rock structure, made two "holders", which is good for 3 new pieces, for corals up to the top right near the frag tray. see full tank shot below. Got some new baby frags for sale, some of the baby CC palys(2 frags) and one of my micro red zoas very nice frag.
Few shots from the reef!!
new zoas-

My favorite:

Reef Slope:

Final Full tank shot...look towards the top right, see the renovations?

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Ditto on Janetta's comments!

If you haven't already done so, make sure your tank is carpet surf proof as the Paracheilinus (falsher wrasses) are notorious jumpers.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Here is a better picture of the Flasher...all the ich is gone on him now...he had a few spots, which is expected. All is good, came right out last night for some mysis, he loves that stuff....He is such a pretty fish, I absolutely love him!

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Each day these new orange polyps that I got are getting longer and longer skirts....Dont get me wrong, they are gorgeous, but they are starting to resemble Yellow Polyps more and more...have a look:

All my rics are starting to divide again..I will soon have 4(orange and teal) 2 (lrg. grn Hatian rics) 2 (blue with neon green mouth) 3 (orange with green rim, see below)

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

here are some pictures of a few pieces in my tank that I have really not posted much about. The first is these mixed zoas that I have...very nice colony that have doubled in size, 2 colors, green with green skirts and orange centers. and the others have red skirts with green then yellow in the very center:

then of course my caribbean shroom: simple, but different:

thats bout it...and a really cool shot of my Aurora goby, he just LOVES to pose, its the first shot reallly that I got his FLAME TAIL in the picture:

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

I just got a new monitor , and I never noticed how bad my last one was...I thought my pics looked good...THEY LOOK LIKE CRAP...or is it just me...they look washed out...too bright, and pixelated. Not how they looked on my camera!!...here are some good current shots:

The Unknown shroom. Moved her to a darker spot and BOOM, even bigger, same with its 5 babies!!

Some of the orange and blueish zoas, with Kathywbirds PB cup zoas behind:

The Green Rimmed Orange Ric is almost in TWO!! cool shot the disc's are fully seperated, just the flesh underneath is still connected.

Re-scaped the tank again to make more room...those yellow polyps are getting OUT OF CONTROL...if ANYbody wants some long stalk and long skirt yellow polyps PLEASE DONT HESITATE TO ASK!!!
