Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Lots of interesting stuff I found this weekend....First off, remember the blue snowflakes???? Well, a while back I found ONE polyp, this weekend, There are now 2 NEXT TO EACH OTHER. #2- MY frogspawn frag has 2 very very small frags growing off of it.....Very very cool, cant get a pic though, too small...Also added another few pieces of LR, furtherd my construction in the front of the tank, also made a cool cave for the goby/pistol shrimp, if they ever get together...

OOOOOOo, look at this unidentified green shroom for $5!!!

A reef shot....

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

I have some bad news, I will have to get pics tommorrow. I was looking at my rics yesterday, and my 2 blues that were attached to their own rock have started moving. And this morning, one has completely detached, and is so far gone, maybe I can find it when I get home. The thing is, I think its a type of sponge like the one that was on my Blue snowflake colony, it takes over a rock and forces things to move....I hope I can rescue the other blue ric.....

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Good luck Daniel! Hopefully you'll find it. I was fortunate last night to find a bright green ric that I didn't even know survived. I got an order in and they were apparently DOA as the thermos water was almost black like coffee and the flesh of all 3 was all but gone. I tossed the water and netted out the rocks and put them into the tank. There were some stalks left from the rics but nothing more. Well last night I was moving some frags from my work tank home (better lights at home) and noticed this little eraser sized fleshy thing hiding behind a rock. It was one of the Nuclear Green Rics that were DOA. I don't know if it will completely re-grow or not but that just goes to show you never really KNOW that something is gone. Good luck buddy!

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

I got home and BOTH were detached. I found both sitting on the sandbed though. Very small and shriveled up. One of them had a hole in the middle by the mouth, it went half the circumference, I dont think that they are gonna make it....and I dont know whats going on....

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Sorry about that buddy. What are your current water tests showing? Sounds like something's taking a toll on them. Should be able to spot it.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Water test last night....ph~8.3 nh3~0 no2~0 no3~<5-10ppm, temp~81.3, SG-1.025-1.026. I made a rubble tray day before yesterday, and when I got home yesterday one was attached to a piece of LR rubble(the one without injury/hole) I made a "ring of rubble" and placed the other smack in the middle of it. Maybe, JUST MAYBE i can save them....puzzled is to what happened though.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Ok, I did some fragging last night. The one blue ric that had the hole in it, I cut it into 3 pieces and glued them to rubble. And reattached the other ric. We will see how they do.....Also took polyps that i got from BLWR and Kathywithbirds and made a RS rock! so I need some more zoos from others here on RS, its kinda like Lynn's RS section, but I only have 2 kinds.....
