Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Cassette, On a lot of those pics the colors on some zoas are fading, probably due to the lights only lasting 5 MONTHS!!!!! few more days though.....I need to get rid of some of my frags though, so if anybody is interested, cheap prices...$5-$10 bucks....let me know.....

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

My first thoughts about your ric issues are #1 the dosing of stuff that may not be needed
#2 allelopathy - chemical warfare from the other guys in there , a new addition to a tankful may get hammered, even if running carbon , and i would be with the mix you have in there ,

also check out the tank at night, look for shrimp stealing from their mouths and sweepers

my mushrooms often will feed and do the cupping thing, but will do with high stress too

hope it evens out

p.s. if the cupping or curling in latest pics are part of what you refer to, may also be the shroom splitting?

Some of mine look a little more pale than usual too! My new bulbs are expected here on monday; but i'm being more and more tempted by the solaris each day Which frags are $5-10? if it's the rics, i'll take them all.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Daniel HEALTH wise they all look good. I would suspect the "color" issues is most likely from the lights fading. I'm planning to order new bulbs all the way around (both tanks) next week myself. I would ORDER now but due to NO Debit Cards I have to wait for the replacements to come in.

I think your tank looks VERY healthy indeed. I can't judge the colors very accurately but as for shape, texture and "attitude" they do look very healthy.

If I have ANY tank real estate open I would SO be wanting some of your frags. Maybe once my 90g is up I'll be able to push some CASH in your hands.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Daniel,

Without going back through your thread if you have added a bunch of soft corals recently, and your tank has a a high volume of corals, it could be that they are competing for space with a good amount of chemical warfare. The chemical warfare won't show up in your in your testing.

The fact that some corals are fully open and some are cupped makes me think it is not a definiency in an element in the water column, but something else.

It will be interesting to see if your water tests low for iodine and strontium. Water changes and carbon filtering should address both issues.

Good luck.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

i also just replace my chemipure....i full unit(40g) of chemi ELITE....so, chemical warfare huh? I have never heard of anything releasing chemicals to control the growth and expansion of others....it makes sense though...
