Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

I know how ya'll like picutres....sooooooo

I took a trip to Winter Haven on saturday, and stopped by this really nice "hole in the wall" LFS. I called prior to driving over there and asked If he would take trades...YES!!! I traded 2 green rics(never posted pics of them, normal greens), also my one rhodactis(grn frilly) and my ugly brown Yuma.....I got 2 goodies...One small mixed rock of zoas, Green skirts with pink/purp centers Need a ID on them....(small frag) I got them from Elite Reef(click on it) I told the owner that its a long drive for me just for a piece of coral, and he told me that he ships too, shipping in FL is FREE!!! Hell yea...so if you go to his site, Free shipping to FL reefers!!!! Thought I would share...well here is my bounty that I collected!!

Greens $20

Mixed(Has 4 different colored zoas, plus those ugly brown ones)<----Fiance Picked out

Here is my Zoa Collection so far(Occupies the left side of my reef)

And finally The NEW Full Tank Shot--->9/30/07

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Im glad everybody likes them. I am a little disappointed, they dont look as good in my tank as they did in LFS tank. When I upgrade my lights im hoping that the new spectrum will really bring out the colors.

Al, I have decided on my spectrum choice. Its gonna be 2 actinic, 1 10k, and 1 50/50, im feeling that it will be a nice "blue" look to it....

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Well, my Klausewitz Blenny has never really accepted the Aurora goby, here they are have a "argument", check out the blenny, He arches his back when agitated, he is saying "look how big I am, you better stay away!" He is in the Aurora's territory here though....

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

I really like the way you placed your corals.

You managed to define different areas in the tank.

I still think it needs at least one more layer of depth, something like this (I used the rock that you were using to make the bridge. That front area would be a great area for your zoanthus colony to expand.

I based this suggestion on this picture:

Your corals don't have very bright colors, which isn't bad at all. It means that when you find a very bright coral it will really shine in your tank. It's already happening with that red mushroom. When you find that centre piece, just don't put it in the middle.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

ardeus,
That has to be the best suggestion that I have heard yet. I totally have issues with the way "I see" the tank. Your suggestion about another layer has been in my head for a while, its also going to expand in the back right, adding a layer there for another "ric-rock" its gonna be very colorful rics. The picture I last posted about the blenny and the goby, the rock that the blenny is on is the back right corner, and the back wall is to the right, This is where I will be adding a piece of LR and upping the level, in turn will ad a nice shelf high in the background, probably gonna save it for Xenia, not sure yet. About what you said about the corals not being very bright, my camera doesn't like my tank for some reason, it does ok, but to me, its not what it really looks like, its better in person. They dont look all that good in the pictures some times. I will be adding to the front layer, right now, im using it for new coral frags, and propagated pieces of my own corals...Thank You for your insight, and I love what you did with my picture to show what you meant. awesome.
