Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Melanie, Its starting to seem that my duster is getting bigger, dont remember it being that big when I got him(2 months ago), its now the biggest one I've seen, I do know he is Hawaiian which are bigger, also it now has a black( not brown) lining on the inside of the tube. its kinda cool looking.

sasquatch- I cant tell if cheato has grown at all, its been in there for probably 2 months now too. Maybe, I have always kept it in the main display, i have been meaning to get the soapdish fuge for it.....just been kinda lazy.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

My dusters disappeared one day. I saw them crawling half out of their tubes and then in the morning they were gone. I never had an ammonia spike so perhaps they are hiding somewhere in the tank.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Well, I finally got my skimmer BACK from sapphire. It has been drilled and upgraded to the recirculating model. Cant wait to see how it performs, hopefully better than the regular model. My corals have been "pouting" with out the skimmer in there....so its been a long time coming for them...dont think they could have went another week before problems arose....I have been doing w/c twice a week for 2 weeks without the skimmer.

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Awesome news Daniel-san. Hopefully the upgrade will make a huge improvement for your corals.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: My 29 Bio Cube build thread

Daniel, I have had the most luck with mine by dropping a good serving of thawed Cyclopeeze into the water column and coming back in say 15 minutes. The Cyclopeeze seems to get their attention and they do open up. At that point I start target feeding with my turkey baster armed with thawed Mysis.

Mine too! And I keep reading how shy they are and how you will never see them once you put them in the tank. Mine never miss a meal!

Recap Time!

Well, I think its about time for a recap. Tank was set up, a stock Bio Cube 29, on June 8th, with 25lbs LS and 10lbs LR. It is now Sept 17th, and stocklist is as follows:
Fish- Neon Goby, Klausewitz's Blenny, Aurora Goby.
Corals-Orange Center Zoas, Ring of Fire Zoas, Green center Zoas, 3 green rics,3 orange and teal rics, 1 large red shroom, small head of Frogspawn, 4 polyps Tubestrea(sun coral), Yellow Polyps, and Blue Snowflake Polyps(clauvaria sp.)
Other Inverts-2 porcelain crabs, 8 turbo snails, 5 blue legs, 4 nassarius snails, 5 cerith snails, 1 peppermint shrimp, 1 Caribbean Pistol Shrimp, 1 Haw. Feather duster.

Haven't Had any big issues at all, KNOCK ON WOOD. Still have room left, time to get really picky on what goes in next. Coralline is growing like crazy, rocks, back wall, and now even the side walls of the tank. Skimmer doesnt produce all that much skimmate, I will be experimenting on flow and air inject. levels for a couple of weeks to come, just to see what I can get out of it. Other than that, everything seems just fine and dandy! Here is a picture that I took just last night.

Overall I am happy with the progress. Upgrades in the near future: Nanotuners light upgrade from 72w to 108w [3pc bulbs] (new ballast, heat shield, and upgraded fans.
