| Golden Moray | Nano Thought Any suggestions about size to start with. Am thinking about one but some of these are so large that you might as well set up another large tank or am I missing something here? |

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: Nano Thought Start with as LARGE as your area for a tank will allow. The larger the better and you'll be thankful you did once you go LARGE!! I have a 12g and am already looking at upgrading to either a 75 or 90 for the next couple of years and then MUCH larger when the new house is done. Larger is more stable and easier to maintain. | Golden Moray | Re: Nano Thought Thanks Allen and Snelly. You both are right...I have a 65 gallon reef tank now and within a few months I wanted something larger. I just kind of like the smallness of the little cubes and really didn't want to get something really large right now because I plan on moving from this house sometime in the next year or so and welllll that is going to be a job in itself with a 65, but like I said you are right about wanting something larger. Just as sure as I get it I will be grumbling about wanting something bigger. Thanks for bringing back that memory! |

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: Nano Thought I have my 12g Nano here in my office and that's what will always be in my office until I move up the corp ladder. that's the ONLY thing that will fit on my desk and still be able to work with my blueprints. Now for the house I started with a 10g because it seemed the WAY to go! Now I am looking for 75-90 because that's all the will fit in the space alloted and still allow sufficient space for mechanical stuff and maintennace. In the new house (1-3 years) I want a mega-tank. Even though I know I'll be tearing down the tanks in a couple of years I'll be able to incorporate them into the new house. The 75-90 is what will be in our master bedroom so it wont be a wasted effort. I can't knock my Nano-cube especially since you're already familiar with The ways of the Reef. I can say that it's not the best tank for a beginner or someone who isn't dedicated to the constant testing and upkeep that a smaller tank requires in order to have anything remotely resembling stability. Whichever way you go, you know we want pictures ![]() sincerely, Allen ![]()

| Reef Lobster | Re: Nano Thought I started out with a 29 FOWLR, then left the hobby temporarily because of school, and then reassembled my 29 with new equipment to make a reef. I would love to get a 75 or 90, but space simply will not permit at the time. At any rate, i just ordered an 8 gallon nano, because i saw a couple in action, and was amazed at how fascinating a small tank can be! So as soon as i'm able to keep a 90, i will, but in my opinion, keeping a nano can only make you a better aquarist...
