| Tunicate | Anyone have MH in the stock BC14 hood? Heat Issues? I'm looking at nanocustoms.com lighting modification to put a 70w metal halide lamp in the stock 14 gallon biocube hood. Has anyone done this modification? I called nanocustoms and they said the tank should run no more than 3 degrees above room temperature, but I find that hard to believe. I would greatly appreciate anyone who might know to respond. Thanks! |

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Anyone have MH in the stock BC14 hood? Heat Issues? Here's a bump. I haven't done that mod, but if you are running the ballast externally I think it would not run much hotter than the stock lighting. My concern would be with a point source light that close to the water it would not have very good light spread without a properly designed reflector. BUT again, I don't have much experience with the biocube, sooooo consider this a bump until someone with experience on these small tanks chimes in.
