here is yet another idea. I have a 5 gallon AGA with just an air driven sponge filter and some small chunks of live rock. I have it stocked heavy with macro algae. I keep maybe 50 small mysis shrimp, a few snails and a couple of tiny red shrimp in it. The light is a cheap pc from home depot. Never really feed it and it is great to watch.....

this place sell 48 shrimp for 21 bucks including shipping.

Re: Nano Shrimp tank

I just recently added a coral bannded shrimp to my aquarium, I'm no expert, but I would suggest not putting him in a tank with other shrimp or small invertabrates. I also have a cleaner shrimp and after I put my coral bannded shrimp into the aquarium he started to attack my cleaner shrimp and cut off one of his antenas!!

Re: Nano Shrimp tank

coral banded will eventually eat anything else in the tank... also, they don't really do well in tanks less than 20 gallons, they get big, and will become stressed if they don't have room to move around.

Re: Nano Shrimp tank

wow, I am glad that I didn't buy a Coral Banded shrimp for my 20g tank. No one mentioned about Coral Banded needs a such big tank to thrill.

Originally I was going to buy a Coral banded, cleaner or a fire shrimp.

Re: Nano Shrimp tank

The thing I didn't like about my camel shrimp was that they hid all the time, and only came out at night. They're neat looking - more interesting than peppemint, and you could keep a few in a 10 gallon tank.

Mine were killed by something - most likely my evil hermits.

Would I be able to keep a couple feather dusters in the tank?

Anything else I need to know?

One last thing, I do go out of town for up to 12 days at a time, would there need to be any extra precautions to take to keep the nano running during this time without problems?

Wait for the yellow clown gobie. I have one in my seahorse tank and he is one of the coolest fish I have every had. The only negative I have found is like many fish you cannot add another later or the original inhabitant will kill the new ones. Other than that this fish is so colorful and cool. He is almost always on top of or out of the rockwork so you can usually see him easily and their movements are just plain fun to watch.
