A white stringy wormlike thing coming from Polyps...

anyone have an idea? Is this how they reproduce? When my lights are dim/off is when it occurs...a worm-like white thread coming out of the star polyps.

It is probably a spaghetti worm. Can you get a pic?

I'll try but it vanishes when the polyps expand...is it harmful?

Not if it is a spaghetti worm. Do a search on it and see if the pics you get look like what is in your tank.

Re: A white stringy wormlike thing coming from Polyps...

I have several "Spaghetti" worm like things all over my LR. It seems like each night I see a new area where they are coming from. Looks kind of cool to me. I'll look into the whole speghetti worm thing and see what they are all about but I presume they are just some type of filter-feeders getting their daily allowance ....

Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Well, blue_eyes must not have seen this post, I asked the same thing over in the Just Starting Out part of RS. Kinda looks like spiderweb stuff???

Check out these two links that blue_eyes posted for me, I think you'll find them quite useful for identifying your stringy stuff:
