3 weeks in!

hey whats up everyone so i'm three weeks into 12g nano and loving it don't have two nickels to rub together but i'm lovin it any ways i have made some additions to my underwater world let me know what you guys think?
also i've been looking into up grading my lighting with one of those DIY upgrade kits from nanotuners the one were you can just add one more 24w bulb please let me know if anyone has done this with there nano and if so did you have temp problems cause of the extra light or not did you upgrade your fans becuase of temp problrms?
Finally if anyone has done this was the kit easy to install was there any rewiring of any ballast to get the job done not a prob i'm a electrian but just wondering how difficult the installtion of the extra bulb was and if it's even worth it?

Thanks alot guys i found nothing but help here at rs looking forward to see what you guys think about my Q's. Enjoy the pics

Looks like you are off to a good start.
What is the fish in pic 4? It looks kind of neat and a bit unusual.

Re: 3 weeks in!

I think the one in pic four is a sleeper goby! Tank looks great for only 3 weeks!

Re: 3 weeks in!

Nice corals and fish. Good start indeed!

I can not answer your ligting question asI have never had that nano before. More lighting = more heat...but how much on your tank? Hopefully, someone else will chime in.

Re: 3 weeks in!

Sorry I have never seen the 12g. More light would be a good thing for many corals but I haven't seen the upgrade.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: 3 weeks in!

As for the goby, it really looks like a Signal or TwinSpot Goby, if you look closely at his dorsal fin toward the back, you can almost see the second "spot" Looks like you'll need plenty o' pods for this little guy and my PocketExpert Guide "Marine Fishes" by Scott Michael states they are a bit hard to keep because of their diet, etc.

Twinspot Signal Goby

Not trying to bring ya down, just watch this guy closely and you may want to consider culturing up some pods. I decided against a mandarin for this very same reason. Yes, good sand sifter, but he's lookin' for food!

As for the lighting, I have upgraded my BC29 with the nanotuners setup, well, putting it together. I upgraded the fans to ensure for flow in and out of the top, hence reducing some of the temp in the tank. Nanotuners states that most of their upgrades, people have actually said their tank temp goes down by 1 to 2 degrees. I think it would be a good upgrade for you.

Good luck and keep us posted.
