Sunnie's 12g nanocube

This was the cube in September 2006:

This is the cube now:

The star polyps have grown from a single small rock to three rocks. I have had a black and white sebae clown since last July, though I was unsuccessful at keeping an anemone (he was in love with his white carpet, too). This weekend I added a coral banded shrimp, two firefish, and a psuedochromis.

The sebae:

Psuedochromis:

He was hard to get a good shot of!

The firefish:

Re: Sunnie's 12g nanocube

I like the look of your tank.

Hopefully your Coral Shrimp won't be a bully like mine is. I added him with the first "group" of critters and now he thinks he's king & ruler. He doesn't hurt anyone but he sure like's the raise his boxing gloves and make everyone THINK he's a big mean shrimpie.

Keep us posted on the tank as you go along. I hope to start mine in the next few weeks or so.

Re: Sunnie's 12g nanocube

Thanks, guys! I'll post some more close ups of the corals when I get a chance. Looking back at the pictures again, I can definately see the difference in the corals between September and now. I'm hoping now that I have the time to watch it again I can get them back up in top shape.

Good luck with your new set up Allen! So far the bandy doesn't have anyone to bully, and I actually saw the percula picking on him earlier today.

I'm thinking my next addition will be a diamond goby. I need a sand sifter like nobody's business. Then that will be it for fish! Not sure what coral I'll be getting next. The bf is doing a coral swap with a friend who's shutting his tank down this week, and I'm hoping to inherit some frags from that swap.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news BUT your tank is already overstocked I would not add any more fish. You might even want to give some away before its to late. Rule of thumb is 1" of fish per 5 gallons....
Come on I know you guys were thinking it also....

Brotha, you're not alone.

I hate to "ditto" someone else's bad news, then add another one, but I though you may want to know that your clown is not a B&W perc, but rather a black seabae clown.

1" per 5? Holy COW! My tank is WAY over stocked then. I'll be watching this thread VERY closely. Good luck Sunine and hang in there. It looks amazing!!

Don't praise me yet! I've only ever added two in the past. This time I was risking it by adding three, and I only added them a few days ago. They could still kick the bucket any time.

I did a head count and I had FOUR in a 10g and everything was good (maybe too good). I did some serious thinking and decided to head off any problems and took my THREE damsels back to LFS and traded them for one firefish. That leaves me with 1-scooter blenny and 1-firefish. I'll monitor my tank for a couple of weeks and if (stress the word IF) all stays constant I'll add one false perc to the mix.

I'm gonna keep tabs on your progress because I'll be getting my NANO Cube 12g in a few weeks here for my office. Your tank LOOKS great! I hope you don't mind if I pick your brain some when I start setting up my Cube.

I totally appreciate the advice. There's no shame in being honest.

Is this rule of thumb because of crowding/aggressive behavior or because of waste production?
