plankton for zoas???

ok, here is the problem. i m on my way in converting my FO 13g tank into a low light corals, to be more specific, mushrooms n zoas tank. zoas is also known as polyps rite? correct me if i m wrong please. ok, so tomorrow i will be getting my lights set for my tank. n in one week time, i will purchase the corals. but just went to the local fish store today n find out the prize of the corals. so this guy at the shop suggested me to but a bottle containing planktons. he said to mix it into the water as it will help feed the zoas.
ok, now izzit necessary? must i buy the planktons? anyway, i asked him if there is other types of food that i can feed the corals, n his answer is thats all they have. kinda difficult coz thats the only marine specialise shop nearby to me. other shops do sell corals n marine fishes, but they specialise more on freshwater fish.
thanks for the help guys.

Zoanthids or Zoas or Zoo's as people call them do have polyps, that is usually how they are sold (price per polyp). You do not have to feed Zoo's, it is not necessary, they will catch bits from the food that you feed most other animals in the tank. I like to feed my tank a combination of things, I do not target feed my Zoo's anything and they are doing very very well. If you do want to target feed them I would suggest cyclopeze.

When you get your Zoo's I suggest you do the Zoo dip, look for it on this sight I have posted it many times.

My 2 cents

Zoanthids feed on particulate matter, organic macromolecules, bacteria, plankton, and even larger prey. To what degree each food item can theoretically comprise the natural dietary intake of zoanthids is anyone's guess, but it would appear that most tank conditions are able to supply the required external nutrition to a tolerable level based on the success of colonies in the aquarium.
I agree with Dave they don't need to be target fed. One thing to keep in mind although zoo's are very hardy and can tolerate lower light levels their colors really come out with intense lighting.
