    Emerald crab and CUC?

    Two part questions.
First, Just got my CUC and after 4 hours 1/2 of them havent moved assuming dead. If tomorrow still havent moved, should I take them out before fouling the water?
Also, what type of snails that are little bigger and can clean better? I got diatom algae right now.
Second, I got this rock with gsp and other types of coral all around the rock, when I turn off the lights and corals retracted I saw a looks like single bubble algae. I guess it's wedge in between corals. If this multiplies, will emerald crab be able to help with this? thanks

If you have a single bubble, use fine tweezers to snip it at the stalk just MAKE SURE NOT TO PUNCTURE IT! if it multiplies, that's what emeralds are for

Turbo snails are the larger ones, pretty active and they'll clean the diatoms and whatever else grows.

Did you acclimate your cuc at all? Inverts can be pretty sensitive. In the future, temp acclimate them first (float the bags) then start adding small amounts of tank water to the bags slowly until you have about doubled the water volume. then you should be able to scoop them out and put them straight in the tank. I hope yours aren't dead! that's always a bummer.

I can take the rock but the bubble are really wedged in the rock. If they end up getting popped outside the tank, will that be ok as long as I rinsed the rock very well?
I got the snails from reef cleaners and the instructions is just float them for 15 min and put them in the tank. Only 1/4 of them haven't moved and presumed dead. Should I just take those out or just leave them?

It's a myth about not popping the bubble algae, the spores are actually located on the outside of the bubble, just try to get the whole thing off. I have one or two bubbles pop up in my tank here and there and it's not a big deal to take it out when I see it. I've seen some tanks overrun with it, though.

snails or hermits? if snails, I would try tipping them a little to see if they try and right themselves (caution though, not all can very well, so if they try, they're alive and you can put them back. Hermits should have moved by now. You can try moving them, poking their legs gently to see if there is movement, etc. But if they're dead you don't want to just leave a pile of dead animals in your tank to decompose.

If you attempt the bubble algae, hold the rock upside down while you do it, try to get as close to the very base as possible. But if they pop that way then the slime and spores will not be all over the rock. still rinse well before putting it back.

I've had snails not move for 24 hours, and then be fine. Your emerald crab should take care of the bubble algae, and the diatoms will go away on their own, and the CUC will speed that process up

What type of snails did you get? Only about 2 out of 11 of the Florida Cerith snails survived the shipping from reef cleaners when I ordered. All of the other snails did just fine. It was easy for me to tell the dead snails because other snails started eating them. I took them out at the end of the 2nd day, and it was just empty shells. If you have any nassarius snails, they will let you know when something is dead.

I'm doing water change today and I'll try to nip the bubble algae. If I can't get them all that's fine , if not the bubble algae it'll be something else. As long as it's not harmful to my fish I'm cool with it. Ill just keep them in check.
I didn't get hermit crabs. I got the regular nassarius dwarf cerith type, I'll discard the dead. I will try to find few turbo snails locally.
