Question Cleaner Shrimp Curiosity

One of my cleaner shrimp suddenly has drastically short antennae. Is this possibly caused by molting?

Yes. Or someone is picking on him.

Re: Cleaner Shrimp Curiosity

Mine have never gotten shorter from molting. I'd lean towards him being picked on. Do you have more than one? are the others OK? I don't see skunk cleaners on your list, is that what your talking about?

Re: Cleaner Shrimp Curiosity

IT happens. It could have made a wrong turn in the reef and it was broken off also.

Re: Cleaner Shrimp Curiosity

I've never seen anything picking at either of my shrimp... I do have two of them in the tank, they usually hang around together.

The odd thing about the shorter antennae is all of them dropped from 3-4 inches to about an inch long. All at the same time. This makes me think it was molting...
