Re: Coco worm trouble

HELP!!!!
I just got 2 coco worms and one of them is getting out.
What I mean by this is that he is out of the tube completley.
I put it back in the tube but it looks like he is not going to last too much in there.

I already move it to a different spot with less current.

Any Ideas?

Arreola I moved your post to it's own thread so you get the help you need and deserve.

I can tell you that the more you more and "mess" with it the more stress you add to the animal.

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!
Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Thank you very much my friend.
I guess this coco worm will not thrive in my tank.
I had tto rescue it from the Nasarius Snails, and don't know how much damage got.
I put it back to its tube, but I guess it won't survive the night.

Thanks again.

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

Sorry for your recent loss.

Odds are the work was either sick or stressed to the point of "Expiring" which is why it left the tube in the first place. That's also indicated by the "Nasarius Snails" going after it. They can smell sickness and decay amazingly well and they are often times the first to the "scene" and sometimes before we'd like for them to be there.

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

Arreola, I would leave the tube in there. Mine "disappeared" as you probably read in my thread, but 2 weeks later he was grown back 80%. Now he's as beautiful as ever!

Can't hurt to leave the tube in there anyways right?

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

Hi all.
Thank you for your coments.
The worm did not loose its cap or feathers.
It came out completley from the tube, (ugly little criters). They have some kind of legs and a large tail.

Last night after trying to put it in the tube for the third time, it went out and in a matter of seconds the Nassaruis feed on it.

I got 2 of them and seams that the second one has lost its cap, but I can still see the worm inside the tube.

Hope that this one thrive.

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

I don't think that's the killer. In fact I'm 99.9% sure it's not. He's simply feasting on the dead remains. If I'm wrong we'll soon find out!

Your coco worm was either dying to begin with or your water params and him did not mesh well.

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

I say it's same as I mentioned before but replace "snails" with shrimp

Re: NEW Coco worm trouble

Coral Banded Shrimp don't have the best reputations. They usually seem to go after other shrimp though I think? I suppose it could be the culprit. But, if that latest picture is the second worm, I would think it would have pulled down into the tube to get away from the CBS, rather than letting itself be picked at, so maybe the shrimp is just picking at a dead worm after all.
