Re: All inverts without claws

I'm a big fan of cerith, nassarius and nerite (not olive) snails. I have a serpent star an emerald crab, a shrimp, several hermits, and a conch. You will want to stay away from the clawed species. I would also suggest a sand sifting goby (but they are often jumpers) and at least one fish which is a detritavore (mine is a coral beauty0.

Good luck on your quest for a clawless CUC.

Re: All inverts without claws

A Sea Apple is too likely to nuke the tank and from what I understand bumblebee snails are not reef safe.
I have a variety of snails but one of my favorite buddies is my fighting conch.

Re: All inverts without claws

Emerald crabs will do that to coraline. I added mine when I had to get rid of some bubble algae (which he did well). Unfortunately my wife names every critter that goes into the tank so once it's in, it stays until it dies.

Lynn is correct about Sea apples and bumblebee snails.

Be very careful about paying too much attention to your pole. Personally, I would ignore it and just listen to the responses that are posted. Anyone can anonymously post a poll response. It's a different story when it comes to posting a response. By cruising the posts here on RC you should quickly learn who to trust. Also, the staff here are both knowledgeable and out to help. The only thing I will argue is Lynn's preferred choice of skimmers.

Re: All inverts without claws

why don't you want to add a cleaner shrimp Basile.
My fire shrimp has been a very good boy/girl and doesn't bother anything in my tank. It always eats all the left over food that the fish don't eat.

Yes i agree, i usually look at the post first, and as for Lynn and the other mod, i got great advice in the past and thrust their jugements. The poll is for me a way to make people voice their personnal choice, justy an indicator thats all. I kwe that cucumber and sea apple are a risk. And you have to be there in case they go belly up sort of speak lol . Thanks Doc.

Re: All inverts without claws

Brittle stars are quick to eat anything that the fish miss, but a cleaner shrimp would take care of that.
Otherwise I would stick with snails of various types. Careful with the big ones, they will sometimes knock over things. Urchins will knock over things all the time and some eat coral (long spines) and others "collect" corals and rubble. lol.

Thanks Sara, But the knocking over part is taken care of. I've built my rockwork, its very sturdy to say the least and everything will be pegged, got about 200 holes done everywhere. I alredy have a brittle star, and 3 pepperminth for aspesia and the cleaner shrimp. The rest will be snails. And my hermiths all the the fuge, they can fight and leave my snails alone.

I think this is a good idea... I started off with quite a few snails and a couple hermits... and now I have hardly any snails and a couple hermits with some designer snail shells on their back. *shakes head*

Thats exactly what happened to me so no more hermiths. They work great but too opportunist. So nails and other inverts like starfish and so on. They also killed 2 of my starfish.
