I also have a watchman Goby and a pistol shrimp. I personally witnessed it snatch a 1 1/2 inch tomato clown and a 1 1/2 inch hippo tang. The hippo tang just was swimming low between the rocks and it reached out and grabed it with its claws and sucked it under the rocks and was never heard from again. It does leave the watchman goby alone however. The pistol shimp is about 2 1/2 inches big and has grown that big from all the fish its been able to eat at $40 a plate. I need to get that murderer out of my tank!

Bullseye shrimp aren't known for pairing

I have a pistol shrimp, not entirely sure of the species, which is 3" long or so in the body now. I doubt it will ever pair up, but seems unconcerned with fish. My tiger gobies swim in and out of his burrow all the time. He doesn't seem to care.

To trap shrimps I usually use a water bottle. I cut off the lid, put some bait in the bottom, and invert the lid so like a funnel and insert it in the rest of the bottle. Not sure if it will work with the pistol, but its a cheap thing to try

I wonder what ever happened? Perhaps the shrimp got so big from all the killing and feeding that it split the tank walls and went after Basile!

Did you ever catch the PS? I have aquired two recently and have put one in my 75. This has me really second guessing putting that one in or putting the second one in my 125. What is the consensus?

I think I am going to hold off on putting the second PS in my 125. One of them came with a partner YWG and they are in the 75. Even though both came from heavily populated tanks, this has me concerned.

Okay I have lost one of my b&w clowns in my 75. No sign of him, just gone. Last week I had a clown disappear from the 24 nano, where I put the other pistol shrimp. I guess I am going to have to tear down my 75 now. These stupid shrimp are costing me too much money. I don't get it either. There is a tiny lawnmower blenny and a red and black blenny in the tank too. They seem like they would be easier targets. I can tell you I am done with them though!!!!

Anybody got ideas on how to trap the shrimp??? I am so mad right now and the wife is just sick over losing another one of her babies...

I agree with Clownfish's idea..... Take one of those 20 oz. soda bottles, cut the top off at the same diameter as the bottom. Insert the top into the bottom so it acts as a funnel pointing in. Put in a piece of shrimp, fish etc.. Now you have your mini trap. That's how I caught my pistol, he was in there in less than an hour.
