| recovering overfeeder | marble star and emeral crab I know I am going to get some "crabs are evil society" people on here, but my question is, will an emerald crab attack a marble star?? I have an emerald, and want a marble star. tank is 12.5 gal ![]()

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: marble star and emeral crab No it won't attack the Starfish but unfortunately the Marble starfish will not stand a chance in such a small tank. Not only are these starfish extremely sensitive to any change in parameters common to such small tanks it'll be impossible to have enough LR to sustain one IME.

| recovering overfeeder | Re: marble star and emeral crab Hmmm I though they stayed about 3". I am going to be getting a bigger tank in the future. My parameters are almost always the same, except a flux with the sg from 1.024 to 1.025 with evaporation, is that enough to cause its demise??

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: marble star and emeral crab Their size isn't the problem their food source is ! They don't eat foods you feed the tank but depend on fauna and possibly bacterial biofilm on the LR to survive. The fact is these starfish are very sensitive to any fluctuation in ph, SG and even dissolved oxygen which typically occur in smaller tanks. My suggestion is to avoid this sp. until you have a larger mature setup.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: marble star and emeral crab Hold off for that bigger tank. Give it some time to mature and then get your star. Even though I am not a crab fan I don't think it would bother the star but the small tank would.
