| Tunicate | Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank Hello all, I recently was lucky to find this great looking and very unique 70 gallon acrylic tank. I don't want to do another full reef tank as I have three already. I thought maybe doing a specimen only tank for a active critter that can be maintained in captivity. I know its rare for most reefers to ever someone to choose there tank for them so here is your chance. I am open to ideas on what type of unique critter I could put in this tank. I am also super open to equipment needs suggestions to keep such a critter. Thanks and Hope to see some great replies. Thanks Shelly ps.this is the tank before its was buffed out- Looks great now! |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank Well I would do seahorses in a heartbeat. You just have to make sure the tank can be kept at the proper temp 72-74. If you can manage the temp then go for it.

| Acropora | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank I would go for either a jellyfish tank, or an octopus tank... But I hear neither live too long..Or like Lynn says, go with sea-horses.. Jason

| Plate Coral | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank I think the Sea Dragon would be a great specimen along with the Sea Horse's. But I also think they are a protected species and I never seen them sold for many many years. But they are a beautiful creature. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank I believe Sea Dragons are protected. I know they are very difficult to keep if not illegal. You could try pipefish with the ponies but I believe all are wild caught so you would need to be extra careful if you introduce them with captive bread seahorses.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank I would be more inclined to go with an angler or similar fish in a tank like that. The bubble would give them a ledge area to perch on. Also they are rather sedentary so the lack of swimming room wouldn't be much of a concern for them. I'm not sure of the dimensions of that tank, but more than likely seahorses would stay towards the back as they like a lot of vertical room. A bubble doesn't allow for very much swimming room.

| Tunicate | Re: Suggestion for active and unique critter for specimen only invert project/tank I was first thinking abut horse shoe crabs as I can give them my local aquarium when they get too large. But I am thinking more of now setting the system up for a mantis. Any thoughts- |
