Black spot on a cleaner shrimp?

My cleaner shrimp guy dropped a fresh mort the other day and now he has all these black spots on him. Can cleaner shrimp have black spot disease? (seems sadly ironic) They popped up in a single day, right after slipping out of his former self.

Take a look

Re: Black spot on a cleaner shrimp?

Strange. Perhaps it is a ruptured blood vessel under the shell? Perhaps something (heavy metal) was incorporated into the new shell?

Re: Black spot on a cleaner shrimp?

After a week or so, the spots are gone. He might have molted again... he seems to do that at least once a week. But I think my Peppermint shrimp has the spots now! I'm not positive, since he hides from me 24 hours a day.

Re: Black spot on a cleaner shrimp?

Hey lee. i found a lil bit of info you may be intrested in.
ClrShrpDisFAQs

Ctrl-F search the page for this phrase 'Hi Gang' theres a question about black spots and a picture that looks similar to yours. Overall the responses say that its ok and they recover quickly. in the response i had you search for the cause was most likly an alkalinity issue.

hope it helps...
